Stojčević families are often Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Krajina , less frequently Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosnian Krajina (Teslic area) and in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area). In Komušina Gornja in Bosnian Krajina every ninth inhabitant had the family name Stojčević.
Prevalence
About 590 people with faimily name Stojčević live in Croatia today, in 220 households. There were 340 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 36 cities and 81 other places, mostly in Zagreb (70), Bulinac in Bjelovar area (65), Sisak (20), Donji Andrijevci in Djakovo area (20), and in Zadar (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
