Stajić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from Vukovar , whereas often Croats. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Osijek and Vukovar. In Novo Nevesinje in Beli Manastir area every tenth inhabitant had the family name Stajić.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Stajić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 15 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Trpinja in Vukovar area (<10), Zadar (<10), Tenja (<10), and in Slavonski Brod (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
