In Croatia, Srdar families are Croats (from Jastrebarsko area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Jastrebarsko area. In Novo Selo Lasinjsko in Jastrebarsko area every seventh inhabitant had the family name Srdar.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Srdar live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (10), Samobor (<10), Novo Selo Lasinjsko in Jastrebarsko area (<10), Kastel Gomilica (<10), and in Cerna in Zupanja area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
