Sošić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Rovinj area , rarely Italians (from Pula ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and in Rovinj area. In places Sošići and Bubani in Rovinj area every second inhabitant had the family name Sošić.
Prevalence
About 330 people with faimily name Sošić live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 250 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 25 other places, mostly in Rovinj (135), in Sosici (25), Brajkovici (15) and Bubani (15) in Rovinj area, and in Pula (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
