In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Slatina area and in Pula. In Gornji Meljani in Slatina area every sixth inhabitant had the family name Smoljanić.
Prevalence
About 60 people with faimily name Smoljanić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 140 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased significantly. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 11 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Pula (15), Zagreb (10), Osijek (<10), Gornji Meljani in Slatina area (<10), and in Karlovac (<5).
