Skelin families are Croats and they are mostly from Trogir area. According to some sources they are from Miljevaca near Virovitice. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Drnis and Sibenik. In Sitno in Trogir area every third inhabitant had the family name Skelin.
Prevalence
About 570 people with faimily name Skelin live in Croatia today, in 230 households. There were 400 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Zagreb (130), Split (120), Sibenik (95), Drinovci (20), and in Sitno in Trogir area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
