In Croatia, Simikić families are mainly Croats (from the Island of Korcule ), less frequently Serbs (from Tuzla Region (Bosnia) ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Brcko area) and in Tuzla Region, Bosnia (Lopare area). In Mrtvica in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Simikić.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Simikić live in Croatia today, in 10 households. They are only located in in 6 Croatian cities and threee other places, mostly in Zagreb (<10), Vela Luka on the Island of Korcula (<5), Pula (<5), Umag (<5), and in Rovinj (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
