Sigur families are Croats and they are mostly from Petrinja. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Petrinja and Sisak. In Hrastovica in Petrinja every ninth inhabitant had the family name Sigur.
Prevalence
About 120 people with faimily name Sigur live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 160 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 7 cities and 13 other places, mostly in Hrastovica (30), Zagreb (20), Lekenik in Petrinja area (10), Sisak (10), and in Petrinja (<10).

Family name Sigur (including: Shigur , Siigur ) is present in 17 countries worldwide. The family name "Sigur " is used by some 500 people in the United States , about 60 in Estonia , and small number of people in Canada.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
