Sečan families are Croats and they are mostly from Cakovec area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Cakovec and in Cakovec area.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Sečan live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in threee Croatian counties, four cities and 13 other places, mostly in Gardinovec in Cakovec area (10), Cakovec (<10), Prelog (<10), Podgorac in Nasice area (<10), and in Mala Subotica in Cakovec area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
