Savi families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Pakrac , but often Italians (also from Pakrac ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pakrac and Nova Gradiska. In Strižičevac in Lipik every tenth inhabitant had the family name Savi.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Savi live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 70 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are only located in in 6 Croatian cities and 11 other places, mostly in Nova Gradiska (20), Pakrac (15), Lipik (10), Donja Obrijez (10), and in Zagreb (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
