Sarić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from western Bosnia , barely Bosniaks (from Dubrovnik ) and Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Split. In Obljaj in Western Bosnia every second inhabitant had the family name Sarić.
Prevalence
About 960 people with faimily name Sarić live in Croatia today, in 400 households. There were 530 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 47 cities and 69 other places, mostly in Zagreb (185), Split (90), Dubrovnik (80), Prugovo in Solin area (50), and in Neoric in Sinj area (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over a hundred times, the first time 1669 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
