Saračević families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Vinkovci area , often Bosniaks (from Bosnian Posavina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Cazins Region, Bosnia (Bihac area). In Točionik in Romania (Bosnia) nearly every inhabitant had the family name Saračević.
Prevalence
About 110 people with faimily name Saračević live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 50 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Vinkovci (<10), Porec (<10), Galizana in Pula area (<10), and in Umag (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
