In Croatia, Salvi families are mainly Italians (from Rovinj ), less frequently Croats (also from Rovinj ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rovinj and Pula.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Salvi live in Croatia today, in 16 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are only located in four Croatian cities and another small place , mostly in Rovinj (20), Zagreb (<5), Split (<5), Mali Losinj on the Island of Losinj (<5), and in Kali on the Island of Ugljan (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
