In Croatia, Sadžak families are mainly Croats (from Middle Bosnia ), rarely Serbs, and barely Montenegrins. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Nova Gradiska area. In Strigova in Bosnian Krajina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Sadžak.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Sadžak live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 7 other places, mostly in Zagreb (15), Sisak (10), Nova Gradiska (<10), Rijeka (<10), and in Resetari in Nova Gradiska area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
