In Croatia, Rušev families are almost entirely Croats (from the Island of Ugljan ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and on the Island of Ugljan.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Rušev live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and threee other places, mostly in Zadar (30), Preko on the Island of Ugljan (10), Zagreb (<10), Zapresic (<5), and in Kali on the Island of Ugljan (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1825 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
