Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Rutar live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located and 8 other Croatian places, mostly in Rijeka (15), Zagreb (10), Moscenice in Opatija area (<10), Zadar (<5), and in Lovran in Opatija area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1926 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
