Rupčić families are Croats and they are mostly from Ogulin. According to some sources they are from Hum in Herzegovina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Ogulin. In Hardomilje in Herzegovina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Rupčić.

They are located in all Croatian counties, in 66 cities and 137 other places, mostly in Zagreb (195), Rijeka (70), Osijek (70), Ogulin (55), and in Split (40).
