They are only located in in 9 Croatian cities and 8 other places, mostly in Umag (15), Pula (10), Buzet (<10), Sveti Martin (<10), and in Lanisce in Buzet area (<10).

The family name "Rupena " is used by some 70 people in the United States , small number in Italy , and small number of people in Australia. "Ruppena " is used by few people in the United States.
