Rudež families are predominantly Croats and they are mostly from Imotski. According to some sources they are from Konavle, rarely Serbs from Hrvatska Kostajnica area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Imotsko and Vrgorac. In Rudeži in Hrvatska Kostajnica area nearly every inhabitant had the family name Rudež.
Prevalence
About 280 people with faimily name Rudež live in Croatia today, in 120 households. There were 320 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 22 cities and 27 other places, mostly in Makarska (55), Imotski (45), Zagreb (35), Vodjinci in Vinkovci area (15), and in Donji Vinjani (15).
