About 290 people with faimily name Rubelj live in Croatia today, in 110 households. There were 170 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 70 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 17 cities and 18 other places, mostly in Split (45), Trogir (40), Mitlo in Trogir area (40), Bulic (35), and in Zagreb (25).

In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
