Roža families are frequently Croats and they are mostly from Rovinj , less frequently Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Rovinj. In Kršanci in Pazin area every fourth inhabitant had the family name Roža.
Prevalence
About 100 people with faimily name Roža live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 10 other places, mostly in Rovinj (30), Krsanci in Pazin area (20), Osijek (<10), Zagreb (<10), and in Suza in Beli Manastir area (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
