Roki families are Croats and they are mostly from the Island of Vis. According to some sources they are from Italy. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and on the Island of Vis. In Plisko Polje on the Island of Vis every fourth inhabitant had the family name Roki.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Roki live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 110 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 40 percent. They are only located in in 6 Croatian cities and threee other places, mostly in Split (25), Vis on the Island of Vis (15), Zagreb (15), Plisko Polje on the Island of Vis (<10), and in Varazdin (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1925 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
