Rogulj families are Croats and they are mostly from Trogir area. According to some sources they are from Podace near Makarske. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and in Trogir area. In places Prapatnica and Bogdanovići in Trogir area every eighth inhabitant had the family name Rogulj.
Prevalence
About 480 people with faimily name Rogulj live in Croatia today, in 210 households. There were 320 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 50 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 29 other places, mostly in Split (130), Kastel Stari (70), Zagreb (35), Trogir (30), and in Mravince (30).

Family name Rogulj is present in 8 countries on three continents. The family name "Rogulj " is used by small number of people in the United States , small number in Germany , and small number of people in Australia. "Roguly " is used by small number of people in the United States.
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1929 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
