Rodin families are Croats and they are mostly from Opuzen area. According to some sources they are from France. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and in Herzegovina (Capljina area). In Prvić Luka in Vodice every sixth inhabitant had the family name Rodin.
Prevalence
About 310 people with faimily name Rodin live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 220 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 40 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Metkovic (75), Zagreb (50), Split (40), Rijeka (35), and in Kastel Luksic (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
