Ristić families are mainly Serbs and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , whereas often Croats (from Pakrac ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Maglaj area) and in Serbia. In Donji Rakovac in Middle Bosnia every third inhabitant had the family name Ristić.
Prevalence
About 650 people with faimily name Ristić live in Croatia today, in 320 households. There were 210 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number tripled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 57 cities and 74 other places, mostly in Zagreb (100), Rijeka (70), Pula (30), Osijek (30), and in Bobota in Vukovar area (20).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over sixty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
