In Croatia, Res families are mainly Czechs (from Daruvar ), less frequently Croats (from Ilok area and Zagreb). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Daruvar and Pakrac. In Ljudevit Selo in Daruvar every tenth inhabitant had the family name Res.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Res live in Croatia today, in 19 households. There were 40 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located and two other Croatian places, mostly in Ljudevit Selo (30), Zagreb (<10), Daruvar (<10), Vukovar (<5), and in Karlovac (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
