Rašić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Tuzla Region (Bosnia). According to some sources they are from Ljubuski, Klobuk and Tihaljina (Herzegovina), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Bosanian Posavina (Derventa area) and in Herzegovina (Ljubuski area). In Dole in Tuzla Region (Bosnia) every second inhabitant had the family name Rašić.
Prevalence
About 2300 people with faimily name Rašić live in Croatia today, in 900 households. There were 420 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 69 cities and 203 other places, mostly in Zagreb (545), Slavonski Brod (210), Sesvete (145), Osijek (115), and in Ruscica in Slavonski Brod area (105).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
