Rajić families are usually Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Travnik area) and in North Herzegovina (Konjic area). In places Studenčica and Idbar in North Herzegovina every second inhabitant had the family name Rajić.
Prevalence
About 1300 people with faimily name Rajić live in Croatia today, in 620 households. There were 760 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 80 percent. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 81 cities and 166 other places, mostly in Zagreb (290), Split (75), Sesvete (55), Osijek (40), and in Knin (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
