Raič families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Neum (Herzegovina), rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Mostar area) and in North Herzegovina (Konjic area). In Brestica in Neum (Herzegovina) every second inhabitant had the family name Raič.
Prevalence
About 740 people with faimily name Raič live in Croatia today, in 330 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 40 cities and 79 other places, mostly in Zagreb (160), Dubrovnik (60), Metkovic (55), Sesvete (45), and in Mokosica (25).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over forty times, the first time 1749 in source 18th Century Census.
