Radočaj families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Ogulin area , barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and Slunj. In places Radočaji and Dobrenići in Ogulin area every third inhabitant had the family name Radočaj.
Prevalence
About 1100 people with faimily name Radočaj live in Croatia today, in 470 households. There were 1200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 48 cities and 101 other places, mostly in Zagreb (155), Karlovac (115), Duga Resa (75), Velika Gorica (55), and in Dobrenici in Ogulin area (55).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over thirty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
