Rade families are Croats and they are mostly from Karlovac. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Karlovac and Zagreb. In Prolog in Herzegovina every fifth inhabitant had the family name Rade.
Prevalence
About 310 people with faimily name Rade live in Croatia today, in 130 households. There were 300 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 23 cities and 17 other places, mostly in Karlovac (120), Zagreb (40), Trogir (30), Seget Vranjica in Trogir area (10), and in Rijeka (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1672 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
