Pušić families are Croats and they are mostly from Imotski area. According to some sources they are from Herceg Novi (Montenegro) or Zupa Dubrovacka near Dubrovnik. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Herzegovina (Posusje area) and in Imotski area. In Zavelim in Herzegovina every second inhabitant had the family name Pušić.
Prevalence
About 1200 people with faimily name Pušić live in Croatia today, in 480 households. There were 620 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 42 cities and 96 other places, mostly in Zagreb (265), Split (125), Valpovo (60), Osijek (50), and in Velika Gorica (35).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
