Pupić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Sinj , where they immigrated according to some sources from Bosnia, rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sinj and Zagreb. In Rim in Vrbovsko every fourth inhabitant had the family name Pupić.
Prevalence
About 200 people with faimily name Pupić live in Croatia today, in 100 households. There were 250 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 20 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 29 cities and 22 other places, mostly in Zagreb (50), Split (40), Turjaci (30), Slavonski Brod (15), and in Osijek (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
