In Croatia, Puljar families are almost entirely Croats (from Ogulin area ), barely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Ogulin area and in Karlovac. In Gornji Zvečaj in Ogulin area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Puljar.
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Puljar live in Croatia today, in 20 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 30 percent. They are located in four Croatian counties, four cities and 5 other places, mostly in Zvecaj (15), Karlovac (10), Zagreb (<5), Goricice Dobranske in Ogulin area (<5), and in Duga Resa (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1930 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
