In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Buzet area and in Pula. In Lanišće in Buzet area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Puhalj.
Prevalence
About 30 people with faimily name Puhalj live in Croatia today, in 17 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in four Croatian counties, in 8 cities and threee other places, mostly in Pula (10), Rijeka (<10), Umag (<5), Opatija (<5), and in Kuceli in Opatija area (<5).
