In Croatia, Prokić families are mainly Serbs, less frequently Croats (from Serbia ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Vukovar and in Vukovar area.
Prevalence
About 70 people with faimily name Prokić live in Croatia today, in 30 households. There were 60 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 12 cities and 5 other places, mostly in Trpinja in Vukovar area (20), Knezevi Vinogradi in Beli Manastir area (10), Split (<5), Rijeka (<5), and in Dubrovnik (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1917 in source List of Dignitaries, Officials and Public Servants of the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.
