Pranjić families are Croats and they are mostly from Bosnian Krajina. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Banja Luka Region, Bosnia (Banja Luka area) and in Bosnian Krajina (Teslic area). In Studenci in Bosnian Krajina every seventh inhabitant had the family name Pranjić.
Prevalence
About 2800 people with faimily name Pranjić live in Croatia today, in 1100 households. There were 80 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 81 cities and 278 other places, mostly in Zagreb (490), Slavonski Brod (160), Sesvete (115), Bjelovar (75), and in Rijeka (70).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1942 in source Phone Directory of the Independent State of Croatia 1942.
