Pomper families are Croats and they are mostly from Novi Marof area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Varazdin and Zagreb. In Kunđevec in Krizevci nearly every inhabitant had the family name Pomper.
Prevalence
About 370 people with faimily name Pomper live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 350 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 18 cities and 42 other places, mostly in Zagreb (70), Varazdin (45), Visoko in Novi Marof area (45), Krizevci (15), and in Vidovec in Varazdin area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1701 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
