In Croatia, Poljac families are generally Croats (from Pozega area ), very rarely Bosniaks (from Bosnian Posavina ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pozega area and in Bosanian Posavina (Derventa area).
Prevalence
About 50 people with faimily name Poljac live in Croatia today, in 15 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number more than doubled. They are located in two Croatian counties, threee cities and 5 other places, mostly in Dragovci in Pozega area (25), Slavonski Brod (10), Zagreb (<5), Batrina in Pozega area (<5), and in Nova Gradiska (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
