Polić families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from Solin area , rarely Bosniaks (from middle Bosnia). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Rijeka and in Herzegovina (Posusje area). In Vir in Herzegovina every ninth inhabitant had the family name Polić.
Prevalence
About 1200 people with faimily name Polić live in Croatia today, in 530 households. There were 1200 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number remains constant. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 46 cities and 93 other places, mostly in Zagreb (210), Split (175), Rijeka (145), Hreljin (105), and in Sibenik (40).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over a hundred times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
