Polak families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Koprivnica area , barely Czechs and Hungarians. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and Cakovec.
Prevalence
About 340 people with faimily name Polak live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 370 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 38 cities and 41 other places, mostly in Zagreb (60), Rijeka (15), Pula (15), Split (10), and in Koprivnica (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned about one hundred times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
