Pokrajac families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from Rovinj , but often Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pula and Rovinj. In Rovinjsko Selo in Rovinj every seventh inhabitant had the family name Pokrajac.
Prevalence
About 350 people with faimily name Pokrajac live in Croatia today, in 180 households. There were 650 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number halved. They are located in almost all Croatian counties, in 24 cities and 33 other places, mostly in Rovinj (55), Rovinjsko Selo (55), Zagreb (50), Split (20), and in Zadar (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over twenty times, the first time 1902 in source Hartmann's General List of Apartments in Zagreb.
