Pirc families are usually Croats and they are mostly from Ludbreg area , rarely Slovenes. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Sisak and Zagreb. In Gašparci in Delnice every eighth inhabitant had the family name Pirc.
Prevalence
About 140 people with faimily name Pirc live in Croatia today, in 60 households. There were 150 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 10 Croatian counties, in 14 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Zagreb (20), Pozega (20), Sisak (15), Delnice (15), and in Sveti Djurdj in Ludbreg area (10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over ten times, the first time 1906 in source Yearbook and Directory of Literary Society of St. Jerome 1906.
