Pihir families can be both Czechs (the family name originates from Daruvar area ) and Croats (from Pozega area ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Pakrac and in Daruvar area.
Prevalence
About 130 people with faimily name Pihir live in Croatia today, in 50 households. There were 100 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 30 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 20 cities and 15 other places, mostly in Daruvar (20), Zagreb (15), in Dezanovac (15) and Golubinjak (15) in Daruvar area, and in Kutina (<10).

Family name Pihir (including: Pichoir , Pihier ) is present in 9 countries on four continents. The family name "Pihir " is used by small number of people in Indonesia and small number in the United States.
