In Croatia, Picić families are generally Croats (from Zadar ), very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zadar and on Dugi, Long Island.
Prevalence
About 20 people with faimily name Picić live in Croatia today, in four households only. There were 10 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in two Croatian counties, in one city and another small place , mostly in Zadar (10) and Brela in Makarska area (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1923 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
