Pezer families are almost entirely Croats and they are mostly from middle Bosnia. According to some sources they are from Herzegovina, very rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Middle Bosnia (Kakanj area) and in Herzegovina (Grude area). In Pepelari in Middle Bosnia nearly every inhabitant had the family name Pezer.
Prevalence
About 350 people with faimily name Pezer live in Croatia today, in 150 households. There were 20 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number multiplied. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 34 cities and 24 other places, mostly in Zagreb (75), Slavonski Brod (50), Djakovo (20), Rijeka (15), and in Vinkovci (15).
Outside Croatia
At least 13 families with this surname emigrated from Croatia to: Germany (5), Austria (3), the United States (2), Switzerland (2), and to Canada (1). Family name Pezer is present in 17 countries on four continents. The family name "Pezer " is used by some 100 people in Germany , small number in the United States , and small number of people in Canada.
