Petrovčić families are Croats and they are mostly from Djurdjevac area. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Djurdjevac area. In Kamenska in Pozega area every ninth inhabitant had the family name Petrovčić.
Prevalence
About 80 people with faimily name Petrovčić live in Croatia today, in 40 households. There were 90 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number decreased by 10 percent. They are located in 9 Croatian counties, in 9 cities and four other places, mostly in Zagreb (40), Podravske Sesvete in Djurdjevac area (10), Koprivnica (<10), Dubrava in Vrbovec area (<10), and in Opatija (<10).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over five times, the first time 1927 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
