Petrač families are Croats and they are mostly from Krapina area. According to some sources they are from Podruta near Novog Marofa. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Zagreb and in Krapina area.
Prevalence
About 360 people with faimily name Petrač live in Croatia today, in 140 households. There were 330 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 10 percent. They are located in the most of Croatian counties, in 26 cities and 35 other places, mostly in Zagreb (115), Varazdin (20), Krapinske Toplice in Krapina area (20), Krizevci (15), and in Mihovljan in Krapina area (15).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over fifty times, the first time 1669 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
