In Croatia, Petkov families are predominantly Croats (from Orahovica area ), rarely Serbs, and very rarely Macedonians (from Rovinj ). In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Nasice and Vinkovci.
Prevalence
About 40 people with faimily name Petkov live in Croatia today, in 17 households. There were 30 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number increased by 20 percent. They are located in 8 Croatian counties, in 10 cities and 6 other places, mostly in Fericanci in Orahovica area (<10), Sesvete (<10), Otok in Vinkovci area (<5), Zagreb (<5), and in Split (<5).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned few times, the first time 1924 in source Emigration Commission Zagreb.
