Perić families are mainly Croats and they are mostly from east Herzegovina , rarely Serbs. In the past century, relatively most of Croatian residents bearing this family name were born in Split and Zagreb. In Donji Rujani in Western Bosnia every fifth inhabitant had the family name Perić.
Prevalence
About 7200 people with faimily name Perić live in Croatia today, in 2900 households. There were 3600 of them in the middle of the past century, and their number doubled. They are located in all Croatian counties, in 99 cities and 490 other places, mostly in Zagreb (1290), Split (540), Zadar (345), Osijek (255), and in Rijeka (215).
In the sources analysed in the project Acta Croatica so far, the name is mentioned over seventy times, the first time 1716 in source Catholic Church Parish Records.
